Microsoft Fingerprint Reader doesn't work with 64-bit versions of Windows

Owners of the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader have been waiting forever for drivers to support it under 64-bit versions of Windows. The wait is over. No, there are no drivers for it, but Microsoft has officially given up and is offering a $39.95 + tax refund for anyone with a 64-bit operating system and the reader.

Just call Microsoft at 1-800-360-7561 and press 0 for assistance. Then explain that you purchased the reader but have not been able to use it with your 64-bit operating system. They'll ask for the PID on the bottom of the reader, your name, address and telephone number, and that's it. You'll receive a check in anywhere from 2-8 weeks.

You can use the refund to buy the Eikon Digital Privacy Manager which does work in 64-bit versions of Windows.
